Hopefully, this will put the cherry on top of this story that has gone on for over a year. First Norton wasn’t contacted about reprising his role as Bruce Banner/The Hulk in an upcoming The Avengers movie. Later, it was decided he was out of the role and there was a bitter back and forth in these letters with Marvel President Kevin Feige. Norton then had to respond on his own to his falling out of the role. Finally, his role was given to Mark Ruffalo, who will now play the Hulk in The Avengers. So to wrap things up, Norton gave an interview with MTV Movies Blog where he essentially explains that it was a business decision for him to not take the part, that he is not bitter about things (anymore), and that he was thankful to be a part of the comic book franchise in the first place and he adds (via THR):
“If you’re going to do one of those [series], you don’t want to be in one of the bad ones. I’m really happy people had a good thing with that.”
You can check the interview yourself below, for more specifics. But I am glad that this is completely over and done with and he has moved on, Marvel has moved on, and hopefully fans of the comics and films will move on as well.
