Extreme Celebrity Shaun White Kicks It Up a Notch With Stride “Mintacular” Chewing Gum
Hey guys, today we have something a little bit different for you. You know Shaun White. Yeah, he’s the lovable, shaggy-haired “Flying Tomato” who has won Olympic and ESPN X-Game Gold medals, the guy who has hilariously sent up himself in past videos and endorsements…well, here he has one upped himself, by endorsing a new sports chewing gum – Stride “Mintacular”.
Stride is the brand; Mintacular in the flavor. Simple enough in premise, but how do you make a gum stand out? Pitch it to a new audience. One of extreme sports enthusiasts, where participants are thinking outside of the box, and where George Clooney doesn’t stand a chance against Tony Hawk. So, you go and grab one of the biggest names in the industry, snowboarding and skateboarding aficionado Shaun White. Then, you find a product that almost everyone uses and that has a few “revolutionary” benefits…it’s a sports gum, with a minty taste. Finally, you put together a laugh-inducing, tongue in cheek video, with a little behind the scenes peek into the process of marketing a great new product. Ultimately, you give it to the end user – us – to see if we like it.
Stride’s Mintacular. It is a revolution in sports gum. New taste, new attitude and a whole new world for extreme sports heads – or just for us – whenever we want to give ourselves a little kick in the pants and fresh breath to boot. This is celebrity gum at it’s finest. Check out the video and then look for the teal gum packaging with the big “S”, next time you are at your local bodega. Enjoy!

While we have covered The Dark Knight Rises and Christopher Nolan’s epic trilogy seemingly ad nauseum here at the site, still more info continues to roll in that is worth sharing. While, the film is still cleaning up at the box office, currently on pace to shatter $400mm in domestic receipts, for the few who haven’t seen it, you may want to skip the following info. Apparently, Bane had a cool scene cut from the film ,that would have told more about his origin and injury, etc. Here, TDKR costume designer Lindy Hemming spoke to GQ about a missing scene:
“If you look at the film, unless they’ve cut it—and I’m sure they haven’t—there’s a whole early section for Tom Hardy where he’s fighting and being taunted by people,” Hemming said. “He’s got chains on him, and he’s standing on a wooden thing while people are attacking him. And in that scene, he’s wearing a much more ragged, primitive version of the mask.”
When Hemming, who hasn’t seen the final product was informed that the scene was cut, she added:
“Well that’s an awful shame, but I suppose you have to cut things, I won’t elaborate on it too much, because it isn’t in the film, but there was another section that showed you why he had the mask and where it came from.”
Also, there is a scene with Lucious Fox dialogue direct from the script that was not in the film. You can read it here.
Intriguing stuff. Thanks to THR for the heads up.

The Avengers Director and TV’s “Buffy The Vampire” creator, Joss Whedon has landed a three year deal with Marvel Entertainment. As part of the deal, Whedon, who helped bring The Avengers a cool $616 million in domestic box office and well over $1 billion worldwide, will direct The Avengers 2, a sequel to the mega hit. Also as part of the agreement, Whedon will help cultivate a TV series for Marvel, in conjunction with ABC and assist in overseeing other Marvel properties development.
Whedon’s next picture, Much Ado About Nothing, will likely prove that he can’t sell a pic that is a difficult sell, and therefore, that Marvel’s money could have been questionably spent. I’m not hating on Whedon, I am telling the truth on how Hollywood works. Despite Whedon’s talent, it was the stars and concept that sold The Avengers, not Whedon’s creative vision (though I am not suggesting it hurt). Still, this is a great deal for Whedon and a potentially marginal one for Marvel, depending on the terms of the deal.

There have been so many iconic instances of casinos on film. It wasn’t until he sat down at a poker game in Monte Carlo for which the word ‘high stakes’ is something of an understatement, that Daniel Craig – in Casino Royale – laid to rest the cheesy, schlocky James Bonds of the nineties and ushered in the era of taut, gripping action. Who can forget the cold, appraising stare of supercriminal Le Chiffre, as he met his new nemesis face-to-face? It was a look not unlike that given to Las Vegas casino owner Sam ‘Aces’ Rothstein, by a local Nevada politician in one of the film’s best scenes, where he explains to him exactly how the good ol’ boys liked to conduct their affairs out West. That film boasts an embarrassment of memorable scenes – from the spine-chilling ‘head in a vice’ interrogation of potential rival, to the desert dust from the car of Rothstein’s psychotic compatriot Nicky Santoro reflected in his aviators as he watches him draw near.
There Are Many Memorable Casino Movie Scenes
It didn’t all happen in Vegas though, before the dawn of the online casino – for fans of poker, Rounders is probably the best example of it on film, and every player who’s ever dreamt of going toe-to-toe with the master knows the scene where Matt Damon finds himself seated across the felt from poker legend Johnny Chan, playing himself, at a casino in Atlantic City, and decides to not just play with him, but bluff him all the way.

From 21, to Swingers, Croupier, and of course, Scorcese’s Casino, there are countless memorable movies with scenes that feature epic gambling. You couldn’t mention the best casino films in film without mentioning Ocean’s Eleven – somehow it manages to capture the pace and hubbub of the casino atmosphere, with its slickly edited montages, none better then when Danny Ocean runs through exactly how they’re going to pull the job off – basically: with speed, glamour, and a lot of smooth off-the-cuff banter directed at anyone in earshot.

Sponsored Video: Audition for a Role in a Fun Video Project “The Beauty Inside”
Alex wants to be a normal guy. But unfortunately, his life is a little bit crazy. From Drake Doremus, the director of Like Crazy, comes an all-new social film experience with The Beauty Inside. Alex’s issue is that he awakes as a different person every day. This makes things a little bit challenging to know who he is, where he is going and to let other people get to know him. His Toshiba Portege Ultrabook helps him log who he is on any given day. Yes, he can be short, fat, tall, thin, man, woman, ugly or pretty. His personas run the gamut. The project sounds like an incredibly unique take on a Groundhog Day theme.
Beyond just the cool concept, there is something extra special about this particular film though. While the project stars Mark Elizabeth Winstead (Scott Pilgrim vs. The World) and Topher Grace (Spider-Man 3), it can also star you! That’s right, you have an opportunity to play one of Alex’s roles – one of the people that he lives as for a day. What a genius concept and what an incredible opportunity. Grab a video camera, get your best look together now and give it a shot! So little to lose and so much to gain, with a ton of fun in the middle.
Take a look at the video below for more details about the project and to find out how you can audition to play Alex. Several people will have a chance but you only have until September 20th to try out. Enjoy and to those who audition, good luck!

Sponsored Video: The ‘Ted’ RedBand Trailer
What would happen if a teddy bear came to life? That is the question posed by the new movie Ted. Ted is a comedy from the wacky mind of creator Seth MacFarlane (TV’s “Family Guy”). Here, MacFarlane makes his directorial debut for the big screen as well as stars as the voice of the titular Ted. He also played Ted in most scenes using motion capture technology to give Ted, the bear, realism. Whatever he did, it worked! Audiences are sure to be hooked on the lovable and crass humor of Ted.
The film co-stars “it girl” of the moment Mila Kunis (Friends With Benefits) and the always strong – since Boogie Nights – Mark Wahlberg. John Bennett is a lonely kid who wishes for his teddy bear to come to life. Magically, his wish is granted and Ted is born. Ted goes from celebrity burn out to being the roommate of his buddy for life John (Wahlberg). But will Kunis’ Lori, John’s girlfriend, cause John and Ted to have to go their separate ways? That is the crux of the problem in Ted. Can Ted and 35 year-old John’s relationship survive Lori and John’s relationship? You have to see it to find out as Ted hilariously injects boundary-pushing humor into a story with some heart.

Ted makes an awkward trio for Lori (Kunis) and John (Wahlberg).
Ted will invade theatres in the UK on August 1st. In the meantime, the movie is cleaning house at the U.S. box office, having already taken in more than $160 million. Ted is easily set to be the funniest comedy of the summer and quite possibly the year, with the box office numbers to back it up. Ted is a comedy that is not to be missed! Check out the video below and make sure to hit off your local movie house to see the film as soon as you can. Enjoy!

Christopher Nolan Will Not Direct A Justice League Movie
The Dark Knight Rises director will not helm a Justice League film for DC. That is the latest and most official word about the new Batman trilogy helmer potentially doing what Joss Whedon did by bringing together all of the superheroes from the DC Universe into one project.
“I’ve got no plans to do anything more, and certainly, no involvement with any Justice League project,” he told the Associated Press.
“We’re finished with all we’re doing with Batman,” he said. “This is the end of our take on this character.”
“Batman will outlive us all, and our interpretation was ours. Obviously, we consider it definitive and kind of finished. The great thing about Batman is he lives on for future generations to reinterpret, and obviously, Warners will have to decide in the future what they’re going to do with him. We’ve had our say on the character.”
With the smashing success of The Avengers, a Justice League project is a slam dunk to get done, sooner rather than later, but the news that Nolan is out actually sits well with me. He’s too talented to not expand his horizons. Now DC will hopefully not do something hokey like we saw with The Avengers but all bets are off. At least we will have Nolan’s trilogy to live in infamy and we get to look forward to more interesting work from the director. Inception still sits as the most satisfying film to be released in the last several years for me, so more, please.

Movie News and Movie Rumors Update
Michael Fassbender is set to star in the film adaptation of Ubisoft’s hit video game Assassin’s Creed. Fassbender, who has starred in X-Men: First Class, Shame and Prometheus, appears to be an interesting and strong choice to play the video game star Desmond Miles. The film, if based on the video game, has a Matrix-like feel to it based on my remembrance of briefly playing the game. Miles is a real person placed in a simulated environment where he is an assassin. The game has spawned a series of sequels, all of which have sold very well and have received rave reviews. Hopefully, that is a predictor of the film being equally, if not more, exciting.
Also, Philip Seymour Hoffman, everyone’s would be Penguin, and star of Boogie Nights and Jack Goes Boating, has signed on to star in the Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire. Hoffman will play a head gamemaker, whatever that is. The first film, part of a trilogy of books, has cleaned house at the box office and the sequel I am sure will be even more anticipated as a result. The casting of Hoffman, along with the lead Jennifer Lawrence, has me intrigued. We’ll see.
