Sponsored Video: RZA’s Directorial Debut – Red Band Trailer “The Man With The Iron Fists”

Quentin Tarantino Presents RZA’s Upcoming Film “The Man With The Iron Fists”

Here’s a cool video you need to check out. We are big fans of The Wu-Tang Clan here at The Film Nest. That makes us big fans of The RZA. You know, the man behind the beats of the infamous group? The man who has acted in films like Zack and Miri Make a Porno? The guy who has scored (musically) movies like Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai? Well, he’s been learning the craft of filmmaking for some time and has a few big fans in his corner. So, he has a new film set to drop, The Man With The Iron Fists.

The Man With The Iron Fists comes with some high power stamp of approvals, per se. First, RZA’s buddy Quentin Tarantino has lent his name to the project as a producer. Second, the film stars another RZA friend, Oscar-winner Russell Crowe. Yes, Mr. Gladiator himself is here, along with another Tarantino disciple, Lucy Liu (Kill Bill). Sounds good, right? Eli Roth (Hostel) serves as co-writer of the project too. The movie, based on the trailer below, looks similar in tone to Tarantino’s underground hit. It has the requisite action, Kung-Fu blood-spilling and Asian iconography that is expected in this sort of movie. If any of these things intrigue you, you should probably give the film a look.

RZA is one to hone his craft carefully, so making a splash in his debut would not surprise any of us. With top level actors, a familiar storyline that echoes his interests (and those of his infamous hip-hop group) and the support of luminaries like QT and RZA’s other buddy Jim Jarmusch, this has the makings of a success. If the imagery doesn’t get you, at the very least, perhaps the soundtrack – featuring RZA and Wiz Khalifa, among others – will. Enjoy!

This post is sponsored by Universal Pictures, but the thoughts above are all mine.
