‘Bob Burns’ Hollywood Halloween’ Documentary, Part 4

For the past two weeks now, we’ve posted stories about the newly released parts of Bob Burns’ Hollywood Halloween, a documentary about a Burbank, CA area film fan who enlisted a bunch of now well-known cinematic artists to help create unique movie-related Halloween experiences all around his house.

Installment number four of the documentary tells the story of Burns’ recreation of Alien and The Creature from the Black Lagoon. In 1979, after the release of Alien, Bob met with a Fox publicity person and asked permission to do a Halloween show based on the film. After impressing big wigs with his set, he was promptly sent all props from the film in which to use, giving Alien a large P.R. boost in the meantime. The Creature from the Black Lagoon continued to display the ingenuity among all involved in something I wish I was there to witness.

So far, all of Burns’ shows occurred before I was even born, but the nice thing about the documentary is they had the foresight to film most of them at least in part, so it’s not just a bunch of talking heads, accompanied with pictures.

The fifth and final part of the doc will be posted on Wednesday, and I’ll be sure to clue you into that.

In the meantime, check out www.BobBurnsHollywoodHalloween.com and click on the “video” tab to check out parts one through four. Enjoy!
