Winding Refn sets up ‘Only God Forgives’

One of my new favorite directors, Nicolas Winding Refn, director of the cult hits the Pusher Trilogy and the upcoming Bronson, will write, direct, and produce Only God Forgives. The Danish director will be busy for the foreseeable future with no less than three projects in various stages. Refn has an untitled project in the works with Gore Verbinski as well as being attached to the new version of Jekyll, starring Keanu Reeves. He is also working on the new film written by Paul Schrader, The Dying of the Light.

Variety describes the plot of Only God Forgives as a:

Bangkok-set modern Western that sees a Thai police lieutenant and a gangster settling their differences in a Thai-boxing match.

I’m excited that Refn is getting more mainstream Hollywood projects, as he seems to always make interesting films. He has a tremendous visual sense, as well as always using great music in his films.  His next film Valhalla Rising, which stars Mads Mikkelson, will hopefully see a U.S. release this year. What do you think of Refn’s filmography so far? As well as the news of his latest project.

Sadly, I haven't seen any of his films, although I've heard many good things about the "Pusher" trilogy and mostly good things about "Bronson". "Valhalla Rising" did not go over well in Venice, but this sounds very, very interesting.
