Darren Aronofsky, who directed one of my favorites films of last year, The Wrestler, is set to direct a film based on the true story of the world’s largest bank heist. The film revolves around the heist of nearly $85 million from Securitas Depot in Tonbridge, England, in February 2006. Aronofsky, along with Scott Franklin of Protozoa Pictures, will be producing the picture. The financing will come from XYZ Films, who are producing the film as well, along with Time Inc. Studios. The movie, being written by Kerry Williamson, is based on the Time magazine article “Breaking the Bank,” which covered the criminal activities of former UFC champ, Lee Murray. Murray was thought to be behind the heist.
Bank heists make for good cinema, as was the case with the most recent heist film released, the Jason Statham starrer, the aptly titled, The Bank Job. Darren Aronofsky is an uber-talented dude, so I can’t wait to see what he does with a heist film. What’s even more intriguing about this project is it’s based on a true story. What do you guys think of this news? Source: Variety

Yeah, this sound intriguing. It's always interesting to see an eccentric filmmaker take on a tried and true genre like a bank heist — can't wait to see what he does with it.
I also can't wait for "Black Swan" — it sounds like "Fountain" Aronofsky.
