With the recent moderate success of The Ugly Truth at the box office, habitual romantic comedy actress and ungrateful star of TV’s “Grey’s Anatomy”, Katherine Heigl is set to appear in yet another – wait for it…romantic comedy. This time Heigl’s costar will be Transformers star and Mr.Fergie, Josh Duhamel. The two will appear together in Warner Brother’s Life as We Know It. The director is Greg Berlanti and the film is being produced by Barry Josephson and Paul Brooks. From Variety:
Project, penned by Ian Deitchman and Kristin Rusk Robinson, follows two unattached adults whose worlds are turned upside down when their mutual best friends die in an accident and name them as caregivers of their orphaned daughter.
Heigl and her mother Nancy Heigl are exec producing the pic. Duhamel, who plays an Air Force major in “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen,” will next be seen opposite Kristen Bell in Disney’s romantic comedy “When in Rome,” directed by Mark Steven Johnson.
Who is actually going to the theater and seeing these films? I mean, come on, how many times can we see the same plot with a revolving cast of more or less the same actors? It seems Heigl has found her niche, but after the success of the latest Transformers I would have hoped that at least Duhamel would steer clear of these types of films. Maybe Josh is in it for the easy money, as Life starts shooting after he finishes yet another rom-com for Disney. Are there any of you that can explain the attraction to these films? Please tell us.
