In the “just a bit outside” category, we have a new comedy called Hot Tub Time Machine in the works. And who wouldn’t want their hot tub to double as a time machine? A natural want. Like air, food, and sex, really. Anyway, John Cusack and Craig Robinson are looking to join Rob Corddry and Clark Duke in this wacky-concepted film. Variety reports:
Scripted by Scott Heald, the comedy follows a group of friends who are frustrated with return to a ski lodge where they partied as teens. They then get in a hot tub–which happens to be a time machine–and get transported to 1987.
If only I could go back to 1987. The Beastie Boys and Rodney-O and Joe Cooley were big back then. Back To The Future had just brought a similar time travelling concept to screen. Seriously, you think I want to re-do high school? Hell, no! Okay, I can’t really be too excited about this news, other than the fact that Craig Robinson might be booking another gig. He had a small role as a bouncer in Knocked Up but stole scene after scene in Kevin Smith’s Zack & Miri Make A Porno last year, a film that, while not great, was woefully underseen in the end. Corddry and Duke are essentially unknown to me, so I don’t have much to say about them. Anyone with more info on them, please enlighten me in the comments section. Thanks.
